Yesterday:

School reopened two days ago, people are still the same except for their hair but you could say that I still look the most coolest among all. My school time-table schedule has been changed and there are new teachers teaching the subjects. Came home after school to check on my mac as i was installing windows onto it and realized I had used the wrong windows CD!! So now my mac is unable to boot up already until my dad has the time to reformat it.

Today:

I was greeted by a fierce teacher informing me that I am not allowed to wear sports shoes to school - only pure white school shoes with no logos on it. And the stupid things is that I have already worn that sports shoes to school for more than 3 months without being caught. So my form teacher happened to walk by and heard the conversation. He looked quite guilty and told me it was his responsibility that he should have told the class about it. Poor guy....

After school, another bad thing happened. I tried to start up my other computer and the screen just won't turn on. After rebooting it for a few more times, I gave up. Quite shocking for me because both computers broke down right after school started. My mum said that it was god's plan. Few hours later, I decided to examined all the wires connected to the computer and realized that one of the cables connecting to the screen was unplugged...

So basically my past two days can be described with this song - 'I had a bad day'

For the past 1 month, I have wrote at least 2 posts which described how you can increase your website traffic using some useful tools or famous websites. Those posts can be found at the bottom left hand corner of this domain, but have you ever wondered that at the end of the day where does your visitors really come from? Are they from the sites that you have tried to promote yourself on like Twitter or Facebook? Or are they from the sites that you are an active member of like Yahoo Answers or some forums? Well, today I will be talking to you about this online tool called the Google Analytics.

Google Analytics is this really helpful service provided by Google (of course), and it has many functions which you can use to monitor your domain. Let me explain to you how Google collect this data, how detailed that data can be and how you can use it for your own benefit (in point form):

How Google collect your data:
-Google has many products such as the Google search engine, Google Chrome, Google maps, Google adsense, Google adwords, Google toolbar, Google gmail and many other Google stuff.
-All of these programs or tools I have mentioned contain cashe which will tell Google everything about you to Google, like your name, age, sex, country you come from and such
-its pretty amazing how Google is able to dominate everyone on this planet who uses internet.
-Now lets move on on how detailed the data given to google can be.

How detailed:
1. Google can pin-point the location of the visitors visiting your domain, like which country they are from
2. Google can identify your ISP (internet service provider). Singapore's Singnet and Starhub, Thailand's TOT or TT&T, and Australia's TPG are some of the example of ISPs
3. Google can identify your internet connection speed (56kbps Dial-up, ADSL broadband or satellite)
4. Google knows how visitors found, and enter your domain, like for example, they know whether if you directly type in a website URL at the address bar and enter the site, or you found that domain on yahoo and enter it from there.

The details I mentioned above is the only the tip of the iceberg. Google can also tell you which city you are from, which language you are likely to speak, which OS you are using (windows or MAC), what is your screen resolution or colour and how many pages you visit in the site. Now heres how you can analyse these data to help you optimise your blog.

1. When you first arrive to your Google Analytics homepage, press the 'view report' at the world map at the bottom right on the page. You will be able to see which country has the most number of visitors coming to your site. Knowing this information, you can tweak you website content to better suit the preference of visitors coming from whichever country they are from, it will be more attractive to them this way

2. Click on the 'Traffic Sources' tab at the sidebar on your left. You will be able to see which website your visitors are coming from. Click the 'view full report' button to expand the details. For me, a fair bit of my visitors come from answers.yahoo.com. Aha, when you know which website they are from, you can go there to promote your website more, increasing the chances more visitors will come.

3. Click on the 'visitors tab' and then 'connection speed'. A list of connection speeds for each visitor will come up and you can see which one the majority of your visitors are using. If the majority of your visitors use 56kbps Dial-up connection speed, chances are that you have to reduce the size of your page to make your website accessibility for these visitors easier. For my case the majority use DSL so its not a problem for me.

In conclusion, Google Analytics can really tell you nearly everything you need to know about you visitors, like where they come from and such. So start using it today to increase your traffic! Thank you, that's all, c u

The method I will be telling you today will increase your domain's PR from 0 to about 3 in at least 1 month. Follow these steps carefully and it will benefit you in many ways. However before we get started, let me educate you on how your domain's PR is essential to its success.

For some of you beginners out there, PR stands for pagerank. Google will designate a number ranging from 0 to 10 to a site to determine its quality, 0 being the least quality and 10 being the most. To increase your PR, you need other websites to link to you. This is called 'backlinking' and a backlink works like a vote which tells Google how good your domain is, which will ultimately influence its decision on what number it should assign to you. This post will describe to you steps you can take to increase your domain's PR and its benefits.

Firstly, the steps to increase your backlinks, increasing your PR:

1. Write quality content
-Deliver new content to readers and
-Provide original content, this way it is more likely that they will link you from their site, if they have one
-Google likes quality original content too

2. Comment at other blogs
-Comment on blogs within your niche or blogs with high pagerank, so that the backlink given to your site is of good quality.
-Backlinks from sites not related to your niche may also harm the pagerank of your site

3. Submit your domain URL to major search engines, most importantly Google..
-Submit your website URL to Google, yahoo, bing, ask, and many others

4. Submit your website to as many places you can submit your site to as you can
-I have provided some free directories for you to submit your site to. This file contains thousands of possible websites you can submit to, and do not submit your URL to all of these websites at once, or else google may consider this as a spam, and ultimately ban you.
-For me, I submit to 25 new free directories manually everyday, and I don't think that that will be a problem. More links for site submission can be downloaded here too

5. Ask your friends with a website to put your link in their domain
-Also counted as a backlink (I think)

6. Submit posts with your domain URL on Digg or these kinds of social bookmarking places
-Your domain get more exposure, people come to your site and may place a link leading to your site on theirs. These places itself also provides backlinks

Secondly, some of its benefits:

1. More frequent spidering
-Google knows that this site is of good quality, so it will spider your domain more, updating its database about your website more often

2. More attractive to webmasters in case you want to exchange links
-Webmasters see the pagerank of your site too, so higher PR means that it is more attractive to them, making them more like to trade links with you

3. Better website ranking due to PR
-With good PR, it is likely that your website will become more popular, resulting in more visitors coming it, resulting better website ranking

4. Higher virtual real estate value
-Advertisers who may want to advertise on your domain may consider your domain's PR as a factor too, so higher PR will definitely make them pay more for some ad spaces on your site

5. More visitors due to websites that have your link
-With Digg or Facebook linking in to your domain, some curious visitors may come to your site from those social bookmarking places and become frequent readers to your site

Some of the methods may not work for everyone and how diligently you execute these actions may result different outcomes, but in the end, there is no harm doing all of the tips I mentioned above in my post. Give them a try, these are the steps I did which landed me with PR3 within 1 month, but it is up to you whether you want to follow it or not. I am a real life example, and now my PR is 3 and my website ranking is 1.3 million. Today was kind of eventful, because 3 things happened to me today. I just got back home so I won't be writing down any domain optimisation tips today, so my 'easy PR' tips will be postponed to a later date (tomorrow, hopefully)

First thing in the morning, at about 8 o'clock, my friend gave me a call to help him transfer some of his stuff from his old home to the new one a few blocks away. Bathed, skipped breakfast and at about 9 o'clock I went to meet him infront of his house. His old house was opposite of my apartment so yeah, I did not rush whatsoever. With 2 other friends, we made quite a few trips from his old house to the new one just to tranfer his stuff, but in the end it was all good. He treated me to lunch after that, which was even better.

Second thing right after helping my friend move house, my flatmate, my brother and I went out to watch some movie at this particular shopping mall a few bus stops away. This movie theater at this mall is special in such a way that you can actually watch a few movies with a purchase of just 1 ticket! You may think that 'wow, thats great!', but actually, its illegal. We are able to do it because there is no security guards to check the tickets before we go into the specific rooms in the cinema, so we took advantage of that, and watched 2 amazing movies namely The Transformers 2 and The Terminator: salvation.

When I think about, for Singaporeans who live in Tampines, you can actually do what I did too. Because there are no security guards to check your tickets before you get into the specific rooms in GV Tampines mall, only just the outside. Try it sometimes, yeah.

Thirdly, after watching both movies from 1.30 to 6, we went straight to city to attend my brother's friend's farewell dinner thing. She is graduating this year so she figured that she would want to end it with a blast. Went to a Korean restaurant for the dinner, heard some fireworks going on at the place (did not go out to watch), and had K-boxed right after that. Sang for 3 hours and boy were we just down right crazy! Helped her transfer her stuff from one place to another right after the thing, and here I am blogging.

From CNN's "'King of Pop' Michael Jackson is dead" and ChannelnewsAsia's "Entertainment world in shock at Jackson's death", this proves to you Im not lying and Michael Jackson is really dead. He died of cardic arrest (heart attack) yesterday afternoon in his LA home in USA, and his autopsy results are expected this friday. Many will mourn his death at 50 years old.

This piece of news caught me by surprise. It was like in the morning when I was in a chemistry lecture as usual, my friend suddenly told me that Michael Jackson died. I was thinking that that was some sick joke he made up, but then he showed me his evidence which could be found on his phone. 'Michael Jackson died of heart attack' was the news feed in his phone, but at that time I was still not convinced. Right after the lecture, there was the usual 2 hour break so I quickly went back home to see that piece of news for myself. Went to ChannalnewsAsia and there it was (still is), "Entertainment world in shock at Jackson's death".

Michael Jackson was ridiculed by the masses for his extreme plastic surgery made on his face, for his scandal of child molestation and many other, but still, he is a great guy. He is the inventor for some of the dance moves dancers use to this very day and his songs are really good, so I guess today is a day of great lost. I mourn for his death, seriously. Did not expect that he will die so young, which makes me wonder how a guy so fit can get a heart attack. Anyway, lets move on.

2. My flatmate leaves the apartment

One of my flatmates left the apartment early this afternoon. Even though he has some bad points like he is not such a neat and clean person and stuff, without him the apartment becomes 1 voice quieter. Its more lonely now, but I guess I will get over this quietness soon. He brought back 40 kg of his stuff home today so the apartment is much cleaner now thanks to that.

3. This website's PageRank has increased!

After 1 month since PoomDomain.com debuted, its pagerank increased from 0 to 3! I did not expect this day for the domain to come so soon, and I am happy for that. This shows that some of my effort has paid of for the better. Will be posting about how to increase easy PR for your domain tomorrow, so stay tuned.

This domain contains many lists of tips which I find really attractive. These lists are so effective at grabbing hold of my attention, and its content is really use useful too. Some of the lists are 20 quick ways to increase your alexa rank and six steps to make more money with your website. Sounds good? Go have a look yourself.

3. tripwiremagazine.com
I recently found this website like yesterday or something, but this site I bookmarked already tells me that this one will be something like doshdosh.com too: full of lists. Have not explored it yet but I think this will make a good SEO resource.

4. problogger.net
It seems like the owner of this domain really knows his stuff. I use this website as a reference on how a simple blogger like me can become someone like him. I use it as an example of what a blogger should do to really succeed in the WWW. Go check it out guys.

5. ezinearticles.com
Other than it being one of the leading places for articles marketing, this domain also contains a lot of information from different SEOers with unique views on their profession. You can also get traffice from this website too, so be their member today.

And Im lagging one right now.

www.stormrage371.blogspot.com has been online for 7 months, but www.poomdomain.com was just approximately 1 month old. stormrage371.blogspot.com took 7 months to get an Alexa ranking of 13 million, but poomdomain.com took only 3 weeks to get to 1.6 million. Quite a feat for a newbie like me I must say, but this takes me 2 hours everyday away from my life. A lot of people don't support me either, so Im feeling pretty down right now.

Its like Im already a slave for to to this Poom Domain. Maintaining this domain is like my job now, 2 hours a day, 1 in the afternoon, 1 at night. Its like today, straight after school at 5.30pm I came home and immediately went out to have some Japanese Raman in the city. Played some arcade till 9pm and watch Angels and Demons till 11+ pm. Reached home at 12+ am and here I am, still blogging instead of getting some sleep.

They say that you should blog regularly in a fixed routine, so I choose to blog everyday regardless of circumstances. Now my eyes are all red, but still, 10 minutes ago I was.. submiting my website to 25 new directories which took me 45 minutes and I was reading all my emails about SEO tips too. Why am I doing this, maybe its because of the fact that Im earning about 10 dollars from here everyday. I cant wait for this earning to grow any longer, I want to earn 20 dollars a day already! I won't wait for 1 year to achieve that!

But if I stop now, all of my efforts will go to waste. All the knowledge I learnt which ranges from SEO tips to marketing methods will go down the drain if I quit now. Its kind of bad to make 'money making' as one of the reaons why I blog nowadays. I don't know. Maybe I should get some sleep or something, think through this and meditate on it. This morning, Yahoo officially banned me from yahoo answers because I was trying to 'play hard ball' on them. After some consideration, my colleague Mr. Loo pointed out a really critical fact that actually made me realise something. Little did I know that Uranus was not even the correct answer.

When it struck me, I realised how wrong I was to.. wrongly accused Yahoo for my mistakes, but still, I don't think I should appologise for anything that I have done. Lets look at it this way: suppose if me writing wrong answers is the case, you go to Yahoo Answers and answered a question., you did not realise that it was wrong, and Yahoo Answers removed the answer because it was, in fact, wrong?

If Yahoo really did it because my answer is wrong, then why don't Yahoo just answer all the questions themselves? Okay maybe they do not have the manpower to answer everybody in the world's questions, so they have to let members do the answering. However, if they don't even leave room for any mistakes like this, then how can that be effective for members to patronise Yahoo Answers again? If they delete every wrong answers that I have made, then I will be so discouraged to come to Yahoo Answers anymore.

Yahoo Answers is a great platform for internet users to make new online friends and marketing your domain, but I personally feel that this is just too far. Thats all, c u

Readers, have I ever told you about using Yahoo Answers to market your domain? Well today, I was suspended from it. (You can read all about marketing your domain using yahoo answers here.)

It was a windy day today in Sydney Australia, and even though its just 16 degree celsius, I was kind of freezing because I wore like only 2 layers today. Was eager to get home from the cold, and when I switched on my computer, checked my domain, then my email, I was appaled to find this little message from Yahoo Answers.

What a surprise it was. 'Why did this happen?' 'How did this happen?' 'What is the reason for this?' were some of the questions I asked myself at that time. I looked around in the mail box, and there was another email from yahoo answers, and this was what I found out:

I was suspended, partly because 'uranus' was my answer to the question 'what is the coldest planet on the solar system?' Readers, if you don't even have a clue why this can be the cause of my suspension, 'uranus' sounds like 'your (a-hole)'. Yahoo Answers requested that I should state my reasons if they have wrongly suspended me, so this was what I official wrote to their support group (long letter coming up)


"Hello yahoo answers support group, I think you have made a mistake.
You have sent me 2 emails today regarding me breaking the yahoo answers guidelines, and even suspended me from answering anymore, but I think its just some misunderstanding

1. Question: what is the coldest planet in the solar system?
Question Details:
Deleted Answer: uranus (since pluto is not a planet anymore)

My Reason: I wasn't trying to write 'your anus' or any obscenities. Its a fact that uranus is a planet.


2. Question: Does F1 body shape make the f1 fast!?
Question Details: hi. i am doing this for math. and tell me as much detail as possible
Deleted Answer: yes, it does. The more streamline the body of the F1, the faster it is, because there is lesser air resistance, and such. search for aero dynamics

MyReason: I don't see why this is considered a conversation whatsoever. I answered 'yes it does' to the question, and then explain a little bit more.


Okay, maybe some of the reasons I provided is wrong, or maybe I have tried to advertise my website too much, but if that is the case, so many of my answers must have been removed already since all of my answers contain my website URL at the 'addition information' part. I don't see that thats the case

However for the 'uranus' reason, I don't see how wrong it could be. Im not trying to criticize you or anything, but I think if you have deleted the 'uranus' because it sounds like 'your (a-hole)', then that shows that you are really immature and did not consider the fact that uranus is actually a real planet in the solar system.

If you really feel that my answers are really bad, don't just suspend me, ban me instead, so that I know that all my answers are really irrelevant. But do consider that I also have answers that are 'best answers' to some of the question people ask. So yahoo, don't beat around the bush, just tell me directly. Please donot tell me that 'I did not follow the guidelines', tell me the specific reason for my actions, so that i can correct myself accordingly. Your guidelines are too general, tell me my specific reason instead, so that if my answers cannot qualify for it, i will not go to yahoo answers and contribute anything again.

Have been lying on the bed for 2 days as I sprained my ankle again T.T This time, it is my left ankle. It is so painful, I could not even walk. I stopped all the sport activities and I am so bored at home =="

The last time I had sprained my ankle, it lasted for 3 weeks. So this time I actually went to see doctor hoping that it will recover faster than the last time and... yes it did. Its only 3 days since I injured my left ankle and now I am able to walk properly again without feeling any pain in each step I took.

Advices from the doctor when you sprain your ankle:
1. Do not put hot stuffs on your ankle as it will speed up the swelling rate.
2. Put ice on your ankle 24 hours a day :D
3. Put the bandage around your ankle to prevent movements.
4. Always rest your foot on a high place to prevent blood from flowing down.
5. Follow this and your ankle will recover real fast!

The past few days, I have been seeing this nokia handphone model in an advertisement on the television ( well, I dont really like to watch television but what other choices do I have? I cant move ) . And....since my old handphone spoiled, today, my dad and I went to buy it. Personally, I do not like touch screen handphones and also handphones which require me to slide it open or flip it open, its just too troublesome. So this is the choice of my handphone....

It is an Xpressmusic and I have tried listening to songs with the new handphone. It really has the quality of an mp3 player! The sound is very clear and not to mention the volume which you can adjust to your likes. ( it can even be louder than the television xD ) It also has a 2.0 mega pixel camera!

We also suscribed a plan which allows me to call oversea at the cost of only 12 cents a minute! ( 3 bahts ) Its really worth it and no longer do I have to worry about talking too long on the phone.

Hey guys, let me share with you about my iMac i bought 3months ago and if you plan on buying an imac soon or in the future, please take note of some things..

My house computer broke down at a time before the start of common test and my mum said that it was a blessing in disguise because it would leave me with more time to study for my common test. She promised to buy a laptop after my common test, so after the common test, I was desperately in need for a computer and without doing any research about the IMac, we went to order it right away.

3days later, I was still sleeping at home and was awaken by my maid who told me that someone was at the door.. I opened the door, signed the papers, got my imac and formatted it. Then tried to download msn on it but failed because it wasn't compatible with mac and i was oh darn damn. In the end i downloaded a msn mac version called AMSN and it sucked. Next, I downloaded a game and again it was not compatible. Almost all games reccomened by my friends does not work on mac. Then I did some research and found out mac is only good for professional applications such as business, photo editing, rendering, movie editing. Also, more secure and stable. Chances of getting virus compared to PCs are very rare but there are some mac viruses.

So now that I have a mac, I cant play much games on it unless I run windows on my mac which my father forbids me to because he says it may crash the mac and yada yada. But don't worry, there are still some fun games out there which i can play such as...

Life is as normal as usual. Woke up at about 8, and I was still really sleepy, but since class starts at 9, so I forced myself to bathe, eat some cereal and go to school like any other day. Reached the class, and was greeted by the chemistry teacher Mr. Merlin. However, I was still really sleepy at that time, and whats more Merlin is a really boring teacher, so I decided to sleep for the whole of 1.5 hours of chemistry tutorial. By the way my class size is relatively small, like 16 persons a class or something, so it really amazes me at how Merlin didn't give a damn about me dreaming away right under his nose.

Anyhow, as my average life continues, I had maths after the chemistry class, followed by a 2 hours break, and then 3 more lectures. Right after the school, I went to the gym to play badminton with some of my classmates, but the courts were occupied so we had to play at the side. Every tuesday and thursday when I go to the gym, my Sri Lankan friend who is really good at badminton will also tag along, and he will always play with the pros at one of the courts especially reserved for them every time we go there. He is so good, he can hit the shuttlecock with the racquet behind his back, and he can smash the shuttlecock and make it fly just a few centimetres above the net. I was like 'WOW man! You are so good!' Yep.

My life was still ordinary until like 5 pm: I walked back to the apartment, forgot my keys so I got to call my flatmate to help me open the front gate again, and I before I went up to my floor, I checked the mail box. Lo and behold, the special thing arrived.. Took them like 2 weeks to send me this thing which enables me to get the money earned from my advertisement program, thats right, the title said it, I got the Google adsense PIN! Immediately when I got up to my unit, I took a picture of it

Recently read from many sources from the internet on how to increase your adsense earnings. Adsense is an advertisement program by Google whereby google adsense publishers put google adsense ads on their domain to earn some cash. I will cut the chase, so here are some of the factors leading to high google adsense earnings (and tips afterwards):

1. high eCPM (comes with low bounce rate)
2. many impressions
3. put your ads on the left side > to increase CTR > to increase number of clicks
4. expensive keywords

These are some of the points I have derived from many, many sources over 3 weeks, and here are the tips:

1. High eCPM can be achieve through your site from many factors, for example good content, professional layout and such. The other factors are not so relevant so I won't be stating it down, but theres another factor which is equally as important as your content itself: bounce rate. Low bounce rate = higher eCPM. I have seen it with my own eyes; 1 day I had like 100 page views, low bounce rate, so theres high eCPM which earned me 8 dollars. However, another day, I had 200 page views, but VERY HIGH bounce rate, so theres little eCPM which earned me only 6 dollars. So how to reduce bounce rate? Convince visitors to click on a link to read more of your stuff. If they click at least once on your page, bounce rate will be much lower than them not clicking at all. Heres a site which tells you just how to convince them to 'click here to read more', expandable posts

2. Many impressions. This one is about marketing your site. Just use yahoo answers and twitter to quickly market your site out, if you are just a simple blogger like me of course

3. I just did a research 'just now', and I found out how to make visitors notice more of your google adsense ads: put your google adsense ads on the left. Visitors often skim through many bloggers' posts to get information in a short time, and they do that by reading the first few lines of each paragraph of the posts. This heatmap shows exactly where visitors often look at the website, so heed this little picture carefully, it may change your earnings from cents per click to dollars. By exposing more of your google adsense ads to new visitors, there will be higher CTR, resulting in more clicks on your ads, earning you more google adsense money!

4. Use expensive keywords. Some of them are related to 'asbestos lung mesothelioma' or 'auto insurance', but since they are so hard to use, you can use keywords like 'domain registrations' or 'buy a domain name' for simpler solutions. Lists of expensive keywords can be found all over the web, so just go search for one, or you can read my version of expensive keywords here.

Many of you domain marketeers must have heard of domain branding using yahoo answers and twitter, but some of those guides on domains other than mine might be too long, so heres my version of domain branding using those 2 social networks.

Firstly, to brand a 'name', a person must be able to see that 'name' everyway he goes. Lets take Coke as an example, suppose you have never heard of Coke before, but you see Coke banners everywhere, see people drinking Coke everyday, see convenience stores having their fridge full of Coke, one day you will sub-conciously be compeled to try this 'Coke' out right? Yep, and thats all about branding and marketing (in a really simple sense). There are many domain branding and marketing means on the internet that will do just that, and some examples are social networking platforms such as:

-social bookmarking (delicious, reddit, propeller and such)
-participating in domains and forums in your niche
-exchanging domain links with bloggers in your niche
-asking other bloggers in your niche to be a guest blogger on your domain

These means may prove to be useful to many, but look at yourself first: suppose if you are an owner of a big website company, you can just ask your fellow employees to do all the grinding right? But what if you are just a simple blogger just like me, Im sure all of these tips many other websites suggested you to do may take you days to finish. So whats the simpler alternative?

-use yahoo answers and twitter,
and heres how (I will do it in point form most of the time)

Yahoo Answers:
-when registered, change your display name to the domain/company name you want to use (for me, its PoomDomain)
-start answering right away
-you can only answer like 20+ questions a day, because Yahoo Answers is smart, they know how to prevent spam
-so, just answer questions that is related to your niche, or just any other question
-and heres the part:
--everytime you want to answer a question, there are 2 boxes, the 'answer' part and the 'source' part.
--answer the question in the 'answer' part, and then put a catching phrase with your domain URL at the source part
--and hope that those guys click it!

This way, the person who views your answer will be able to see your domain URL everytime they go to that page, and if they see enough of it, they will sub-conciously be compeled to click it, because of curiousity. Thats branding for Yahoo Answers, lets move on to Twitter

Twitter:
-lets you interact with any people registered to it, without initially knowing their email whatsoever
-register it right away, and change your display name to your domain/company name(as usual)
-start following people in your Niche by clicking on the 'find people', and then on the 'find on twitter' tab type in your niche, like for example if you like cooking, maybe you can type cooking there.
-a whole list of twitters will appear
-just follow everyone in your path
-its a twitter etiquette to follow a person who followed you, so most of the people who you followed will follow you back.
-it is also an etiquette for someone who you followed to send you a direct message to 'thank you for following me'
-and heres the part:
--when you have a lot of followers following you, just give them a 'thank you for following me' message, but instead of just a simple thank you, you write in your catch phrase and your domain URL.
--and hope that they will be attracted to click on your link

This way, you can market out your services through those short direct messages (tweets they call it), and then many more people will be coming to you site. For example, I may write 'thank you for the follow, you can go to my site if you are interested in cooking thai meals' and send it to those following me. When they get the message, if they are really interested to come to your domain.

These are some suggestions for branding and marketing. It works most of the time, but if it doesn't, please don't sue me, Im just an ordinary guy trying to help people out, and anyway, using yahoo answers and twitter is fun too, try it out. Hey readers. many changes to the domain's page layout for this week. Earlier before, I shifted the blog directories to the footer, right, and today, I :

-moved the domain's archives widget lower down the page
-moved the widget with some banners lower down the domain
-change the color of the google adsense ads on the domain, hoping more people will notice
-centered some of the domain's widgets
-added the 'favourite posts' to the domain

and

-added the share button with StumbleUpon included
-added the 'google translate' widget.

Ok readers, I know that its quite silly of me to insert that google widget, because most of you guys speak/read/write English. But thats for 'most' of you guys. Analysis of my domain's visitors suggests that not only Australians, Americans or Singaporeans are the only ones reading this domain, some brazilians and Franch do too.

By adding a google translate botton, you are.. reaching a larger field of target audience. Not only English reading readers will be able to understand you, Tamil reading Indians will be able to get what you are talking about too.

Next up, I also added the share buttons at the end of my domain's every post. So if you like some of my posts, you can just bookmark it, 'Stumble' it or 'Digg' it or something. Now today, I also want to introduce to you the website called StumbleUpon. This freaking huge website shares interesting things user find or 'stumble upon' on the web, and to help users 'stumble upon' interesting sites, stumbleupon gives them the stumbleupon toolbar. The nifty little toolbar is just like a remote control for your TV: with a click of 'the' button, it will bring you sites which you may find interesting. When you are satisfied with the site stumbleupon find for you, just give it a 'thumbs up', and move on by clicking on 'the' button again.

The StumbleUpon toolbar can certainly help you kill time, not only that, it can also help increase the amount of traffic a website gets. For example, if an interesting website is given a 'thumbs up', stumbleupon will then show it to others who have the stumbleupon toolbar too. And if more users give that website the 'thumbs up', stumbleupon will then show it to a lot more users who use the toolbar. Now, getting to the point, readers, please feel free to use the stumbleupon option in the share button or download the stumbleupon toolbar and give the page a thumbsup anytime you like any post on this website or another (hint). That will certainly help the website by bringing in more traffic.

Have not been updating for the last few days, so here I am updating all the past events which happened recently.

Firstly I had a bad stomach ache : (As I rarely ate any spicy food in Singapore and here I am in Thailand gobbling down all the chili and curry, my stomach seemed to not be able to adapt to the big change just yet. The pain lasted 8 hours long and I managed to survive the pain T.T Cannot sit up right and had to lie down on the bed, even when lying down I had to turn and face the right all the time.

These are the medicines I will be taking for the next few days…

(Arghh! There are so many!)

Secondly, guess what? I went for a.. driving lesson today! My cousin taught me to drive and gave me about 30 min of lecture before letting me drive the car. After spending sometime driving on a plain, it is time for a real test. I drove on the main road with lots of cars going here and there. It was scary at first but got more and more fun later on. Fortunately, we did not get caught by police if not I would not be posting right now xD.

After the driving lesson, we went to a fitness place. We started off with jogging after which we went to this so called “body building room. So we went to try this weight lifting, my cousin tried it first. He started with the 60 kg and could only lift up for 2 times. As I never try weight lifting before, I started with the 25 kg one. It was pretty easy so I went to try the 40 kg one O.O Managed to lift 10 times! (as what expected of underling of the sir xD) That is all for now :]

8th to 10th June - The Day Of Misery And Suffering.

I attended a NCC Land Camp during those days and let me tell you about it. You better listen to me.

8th June
-Assembling at canteen (Sianbernessmous)
Talked to Raymond and Samuel in the canteen and then go take temperature. After that heard some sec 2 saying that there might be air condition in the places we are going to sleep at. Then in the end when we reached the classroom, there was no air condition, but it's a new classroom. Straight away, some people took the best sleeping places, and its under the fan. Me? I slept at one corner, near the dustbin, sulking away..... all alone.

-High Elements
Took a bus to Jalan Bahtera for the high elements. Did some broken bridge, abseiling and one more fun thing. The fun thing damn fun because I did the fun thing with the USM, i felt so proud doing it with him, he made me look pro. The high elements were like three storey high i think..

-Fear Factor
I did not do that Fear Factor because the.. sergeant left us somewhere in the dark after dinner then forgot where he placed us, so about 8 of us stayed at a dark place until everyone did the fear factor and then they found us. It was hot and stuffy at the darky dark darkness corner so the sec 2 removed their shirts, then one crazy guy from sec 1 disturbed them and was pushed by one of the sec 2. Heard someone say clothed vs un-clothed.

-Bathe, Eat, Sleep
Due to the shortage of toilets, some of the boys had to use the female toilets to bathe. My friend wanted to go explore the girls toilet so we went together. The female toilets were damn clean and also got lockers to put my clothes. After bathe we went to have supper, then sleep. Most of us slept on tables or chairs. A group of malay boys slept in their sleeping bags and made alot of noise until two chinese were not happy. One went to tell teacher, the other (the same crazy boy) went to take a chair and chase one of the malay boy threathening to hit him if he didn't shut up. The other malay boys came to help. Very interesting fight, one chinese vs 4 malays. It entertained me for a while until there was no more to see, and i went to sleep. The malay boys complained to the sergeant about the chinese being rascist and then in the end they went to shake hands with the chinese before sleeping... =.=

9th June

-Morning PT
Did some stupid exercise and then ran outside school.

-Kayaking
Kayaked at Kallang water sports centre. At first, I was paired with raymond, then after doing some games in the sea, we had to switch partners and I ended up with a sec 2. Me and him has totally no co-ordination at all, and he got pissed off and complained to his friend that i sucked and he was doing all the work. So too bad for him, i got pissed off as well, and slacked behind him and he had to do all the work so were ended up one of the last to reach. His hands was also injured.... After reaching back the shore, he began to bleed somewhere, dunno where, then call me bastard and tell me to find a good hiding spot during laser combat or else he will finish me off or whatever... =.=

-Lunch
Went back school to eat and then slacked for 1 hour before going for our laser combat.

-Laser Combat (Shiokbernessmous)
Took a bus again to bedok reservoir for laser combat and I went to red team while the injured sec 2 went to yellow team. There were guns that could snipe, short range, or blast. i took the short ranged one i think. First one was team match, yellow vs red. The Reds won because they had the least number of respawns. Each person has 7 lives, they can only get back their lives again after all of their 7 lives are gone. I was quite lucky as the sec 2 person injured his hand so it was difficult for him to carry the gun because it was like a few kilograms. So while he was busy aiming other red members, I sneaked up to him and aimed at him using the scope then shot him a few times till his live decreased by 3 I think. He ran away. :) I won, and I always do, because Im Louis remember?

Second round mission was to escort a certain person to the other base so that he can touch some 'stoopid' thing and then some snipe and others just combat with other yellow members. Again, I saw the sec 2 guy and did the same thing, this time he didn't run, he hide behind the tree I was hiding behind at first and then both of us shot each other. Soon, i ran out of ammo and he was trying to shoot me, luckily two other guys came up and shot him continuously till he died. I won, again. There was another round of shooting again, but I don't won't to eleborate anymore

-Movie
Went back to school to have dinner and then watched movies before having supper. We watched Rambo and abit of love guru. Rambo was sick, nice killings. Something like happy three friends but it was the human version. After supper, went to sleep, called my Daddy Mummy to report safe.

After 3 weeks of website hosting, I have familiarised myself with some of the technical terms used by webmasters world wide. Some of the terms are:


1. SEO (search engine optimisation)
2. Outbound inbound links, backlinks
3. Website submission, blogroll, social booking marking, link scheme
4. Direct/Referal/SearchEngine traffic, paid traffic
5. PPC (pay per click), PPP (pay per post)
6. Referals, Affiliate programs
7. Blackhat whitehat SEO
8. eCPM (click per miles), CTR (click through rate)
9. meta tags including content, title, desciption, keywords


Not a complete list of what SEO is all about, but anyway, just a few days ago, I stumbled upon this term called 'expensive keywords'. Boy was I confused. How can keywords be expensive? Keywords are words that you randomly put in your keyword meta tag which will describe your website/blog, so for example if I choose 'peritoneal mesothelioma treatment', then that means I am trying to tell others that my website/blog is about mesothelioma treatment. So how can.. random words that you choose out of the blue be expensive?

It was after some research when I realise why keywords can be expensive. In the world of SEO, advertisers whose advertisement can be found in Google Ads bid prices for these words. These keywords describe their website. But since there are others who are also trying to advertise their website with the same keywords, these advertisers will have to bid a higher price for them. So when somebody's website content is about 'google affiliate', 'domains yahoo' or 'peritoneal mesothelioma treatment', then the websites of those advertiser with the highest bid for the mentioned keywords will be shown first thing in the Google Ads list.

That is what is understand about 'expensive keywords'. The problem is, how can anybody's content be about weird stuff like peritoneal mesothelioma anyway?

I think I have made a mistake while I am doing my SEO for my blog. Maybe its the 'participation in link schemes' thing I which have read in the google's webmaster guideline. I am having a sharp decrease in the number of pageviews for a few days now. Instead of at least 150 page views a day (can't say that its high, because I just started for only 3 weeks), now I am experiencing page views as low as 50 a day. Did google ban me? I can still see my site when I inserted the site:poomdomain.com in the google seach box, so whats the problem?

I have to admit that I had made a link pool with one of my pages a few days ago, and I submited my sites to many other sites with niche non-related to mine, linking it. I have already corrected the link pool thing by deleting most of the links non-related to my topic, but the part that is still leaving me confused right now is the site submission.

For many of us, site submission is basically the core of SEO. If we can submit our URL to only some of the directories within our niche, and not any other which can be found abundantly on the internet, then how can we succeed in promoting our website effectively? So the next question for me to Google will be 'To what extent of website submission and linking is considered "participation in link schemes"'? Is it like, submitting your URL to thousands of websites at a short period of time? Or maybe you submit your URL to a few websites everyday, but those sites are still off your niche?

Maybe I am still unclear about the specifics about this 'link scheme' thing, so maybe if any of you guys are reading this, can you tell me what it is actually? Can I still submit my URL to other sites, a few at a time, once a day, but the sites are off my niche? Please, I need your help this time. I don't want to be banned from google.

Watch him pop and lock at 2.47, hes really good. I really like to watch people break dance, pop and lock, they are so cool and I wish I can be like them. Its like 'wow', they are so good at this, and it makes me wonder how often they need to practise to get to this stage. Do they practise everyday at most of the time, leaving no room to do anything else? If thats the case, then I guess I will not be starting so soon because I still need to optimise this blog.

There was no menu to choose your food from, but instead a piece of paper napkin which you put under your plate. The list of cuisine can be found there at the paper napkin, but the sad thing is that the heading of each kind of cuisine is in Italian. Luckily the list under the headings are in English, so we didn't really have a hard.. time reading and choosing our food.

Was greeted by our frequent friend 'the fog' after we got back home. It was already past midnight so the weather got chilly. I was told that there was the fog for a few days already, however, that day was my first time to see a fog at sea level. I was pretty amazed by its presence. Another time I told my friends about Thailand and Singapore not having daylight savings, and they were pretty stunned too! When I first came, and first knew about countries with 4 seasons having 1 hour time difference everytime the season change, I was really shocked again! So I guess im experiencing new things here every now and then.

Project Natal is seriously crazy. All in E3 baby

After I changed my blog skin for some time now, I realised that I still haven't install some of the widgets found on my former skin yet. Some of them are the 'share' button after every post, the 'click here to read more' button, and lastly, the google analytics tracking code ((google analytics is the thing that tells me how many visitors I had for the day, how many clicks on the ads and so on)). No wonder why my google analytics report sucked so bad. From at least 100 page views a day (not a lot at all), to zero (not at all)! Guess many changes will be happening from now on.

If you haven't notice, I also had removed my list of links on the front page of the blog, and placed it with.. the 'follow/link poom' instead. I did it so that the page load time will be shorter. I also added my very own website icon thingy. Have a look at the list of favourites you have, and if you actually favourited my blog, you will notice that the icon next to it changed. Yep. Changed from the orange blogger icon to the new, colourful thing. The original image of the icon was my batik piece I submitted for O' levels in Singapore, but anyway, the new icon will give me a more professional look now. People won't think that my blog is just a normal blog anymore.

After just one week before, my blog rank rose to 8,231,+++ million on the alexa ranking. However, today, my rank dropped to 8,298,+++. So I was searching the web on how I can increase traffic to my website, when I stumbled upon this technique called 'link baiting'. Basically, the process is just:

1. write a really good post, preferably a list of something that we should
2. Submit the website leading to this post all over the web
3. wait for results, and hope that people will click on it, read it, like it, and then most important of all, bookmark/link it.

By doing this, my blog will become a useful tool to some beginners out there, and hopefully, they will kind of contact me, talk to me, ask me for suggestions, link me, increasing my backlink. One of the other techniques is to make your own e-book too, but I will tell you some other time when I finally do my link bait thing.
